This year’s grass hay bales tested exceptionally clean, with an ash content of just 5.79% — well below typical grass hay levels, meaning minimal soil or dirt contamination and a genuinely clean cut. It was baled at 13.89% moisture, right in the sweet spot for long-term storage with low risk of mold or dust. Crude protein came in at 9.46% DM, a solid mid-range number that suits horses and maintenance-level livestock well, and fiber digestibility (NDFD) tested above average across the board, meaning animals get more usable energy out of every bite rather than it passing through undigested. Sugar content (WSC 13.31%) is on the higher side for grass hay, which translates to excellent palatability — this is hay animals actually want to eat.
