Teen Small Engine Repair 101: From Breakdown to Rebuild
Are you a teenager with a curious mind and a desire to know how things work? Do you want to learn a valuable skill that can save you and your family money, and maybe even start your own business? Our Small Engine Repair 101 course is the perfect place to start. This hands-on, six-week program is designed for teens aged 12-18 and will take you from a complete beginner to a confident mechanic. We’ll work on a variety of engines, from small 2-stroke trimmers to larger 4-stroke lawnmower engines, giving you a comprehensive understanding of the different types of power equipment you’ll encounter.
Over the course of six Mondays, from 5-7 PM, you’ll dive into the world of small engine mechanics. You’ll learn the fundamental principles of how engines work and master basic troubleshooting techniques. We’ll cover everything from simple maintenance tasks to more complex repairs. You’ll learn how to rebuild a carburetor, the heart of the engine’s fuel system. You’ll also get hands-on experience with essential maintenance, including changing oil, gapping spark plugs, and servicing grease fittings. Want to know how to get a perfectly sharp edge on a mower blade or a chain saw? We’ll teach you that, too. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to diagnose a problem and perform a full maintenance on a machine from start to finish.
We believe in learning by doing, so each student will get to work on their own machine for a full maintenance service in the final class. This real-world experience will solidify your knowledge and give you a sense of accomplishment.
Our six-week course runs on Mondays from 5-7 PM.

My son loved this and learned so much! Grateful for this opportunity.

I’m so grateful for this class! My 13-year-old son loved it. He comes home glowing and chatty after doing real work and learning skills he can apply right away to his mowing business. He said he enjoyed that it was in a barn (and some evenings were cold) and not in a classroom. He also looked up to Seth, I don’t believe our sons can have too many good male role models in their lives.
