Ready to take control of your car’s health and save money on simple repairs? This comprehensive 5-week, hands-on course is designed for anyone who wants to learn the essential skills to properly inspect, maintain, and understand their personal vehicle. Forget confusing jargon and intimidating mechanics—our goal is to give you the confidence to manage your own basic car care.

Over the five weeks, we’ll meet for a two-hour session each week, diving into practical, real-world maintenance tasks. This isn’t just a lecture; you’ll be getting your hands dirty and learning by doing!

What You’ll Learn and Do

Our curriculum is structured to build your skills week by week:

• The Inspection Roadmap: We’ll start by creating and understanding a proper maintenance schedule for any vehicle. You’ll learn exactly what should be inspected and when—from belts and hoses to cables and lights.
• The Oil Change Lab: You will learn how to perform a complete oil and filter change on several different types of vehicles, giving you a wide range of experience. We’ll also cover the different types of oil and filters and which is right for your car.
• Fluids and Filters Deep Dive: Beyond the oil, we’ll check and discuss the differences between all essential fluid levels (coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, etc.). You’ll learn to identify a healthy fluid from a contaminated one and the simple process of changing an air filter.
• Tire Care Essentials: Safety and longevity start with your tires. We will cover the proper technique for rotating tires to maximize their lifespan. Plus, you’ll learn the valuable skill of safely patching a tire that has a small hole, a skill that can save you time and money.
• Your Own Vehicle Maintenance Day: The final session is the ultimate test! Each student will perform a full inspection and basic maintenance (like an oil change, tire rotation, or filter change, depending on your car’s needs) on their own personal vehicle with an instructor present for guidance. You will drive away knowing the maintenance was done right and exactly what your car needs next.
