Amy Vaughan-Roland returns to Redemption Springs for Jams and Jelly 101 class bringing a wealth of practical knowledge and experience to help you on your food journey!

For nearly 20 years Dr. Amy Vaughan-Roland has taught in classrooms, corn field, and woods. Dr. Amy’s roots run deep in agriculture growing up in the 4H and FFA programming, and still takes a part in the operations of her family dairy farm Daily Crisis Farm in White Hall, MD. Dr. Amy earned her doctorate in Community Organizations in 2021 with a research focus on Farm to School, developing ways to empower youth to know and grow their own food! In her day job Dr. Amy is a Certified Maryland Special Educator for Catholic Charities of Maryland serving as a Therapeutic Ecology Teacher for young people ages 5-14 who have had significant life trauma resulting in behavioral and learning differences. In addition to teaching classes here at Redemption Springs, Dr. Amy also runs the successful farm-based learning program Farm School at The Farmyard in Parkton MD. Amy and her husband Nate reside on the family farm in White Hall with their daughters Ruth and Leila and are prolific subscribers to the modern-day Homestead Movement and are 100% protein independent with all their protein sources coming from the farm. Dr. Amy is an avid home canner, amateur bread baker, and pollinator enthusiast.
